Kindroid data handling.

A private character and a private conversation are different questions. These notes describe published documents; account settings, exports and deletion outcomes were not tested.

Who can access conversation data?
Read the conditions

The policy says chats are encrypted at rest and in transit, but not end-to-end. Servers and automated safety systems process content; authorized human review has stated exceptions.

Atlas has not audited access controls. The policy lists requested review and legal or terms-enforcement conditions.

Kindroid privacy policy and legal page
Can conversations improve the AI?
Not established in this review

A clear conversation-training commitment or opt-out was not established in the reviewed policy.

General service-improvement language and adapting replies in a chat do not establish whether conversations train shared models.

Kindroid privacy policy and legal page
How long is data kept?
Read the conditions

The policy retains chats and generated media until the AI or account is deleted, with broader legal, dispute and anonymous-data exceptions.

A complete timetable for every copy and exception was not established.

What does deletion cover?
Read the conditions

The FAQ schedules the final Kin for 24-hour deletion and retains logistical data. Individual message deletion is currently unavailable in that FAQ.

Deleting a Kin is not the same action as removing one message or ending every billing relationship.

What can I export or request?

The policy documents a self-serve personal-data export every 30 days under Profile → Preferences.

Reasons to investigate

  • Dedicated personality-customization documentation
  • Backstory is central to the documented setup
  • A useful candidate for comparing character behavior rather than just appearance

Keep in mind

What is Kindroid?

Kindroid is an AI companion platform. Its personality-customization documentation describes setting up a character through its background and behavioral guidance. The earlier research snapshot also identifies character appearance, chat and voice as parts of the product.

A personality-led companion should be judged against the personality you actually wrote. Separate a fluent answer from an answer that respects the character’s motives, relationships and speaking style. Those are different evaluation criteria.

Writing a useful backstory

Start with a small number of traits that produce observable behavior. “Patient” is easier to evaluate when the brief describes how the character handles interruption or uncertainty. Give the character a reason for interacting with you rather than a list of flattering adjectives.

Change one section of the brief at a time and compare a repeated opening scene. This is a suggested evaluation method, not a claim that a particular prompt format is proven to work best in Kindroid.

How to compare it with Nomi

The useful comparison is the character-setup workflow: how each product lets you establish traits, background and shared context. Nomi’s cited guide explicitly discusses traits and Shared Notes; Kindroid provides a dedicated personality-customization guide.

We have not compared the two in a controlled conversation. Before buying, test the same premise in both products and check current limits, paid features and account-data controls. Keep any memory or voice results separate from the character-editor comparison.

Creating a character

Use the official guide for the current interface. These notes outline the documented workflow or the checks to make before choosing access.

  1. Read the current official setup and personality guides.
  2. Create a character with a concise, consistent background.
  3. Establish a speaking style and a clear relationship premise.
  4. Revisit a scene to evaluate behavior before expanding the brief.

Common questions

Is Kindroid suitable for custom personalities?

Its official documentation includes personality customization. That establishes available guidance, rather than a measured result for a specific personality.

Is Kindroid better than Nomi?

We have not run a controlled comparison. Use the side-by-side feature view to compare documented controls, then test the same character brief in each.
