Your research. Your local drafts.
This page describes this edition of Characters.best. Platform privacy policies are covered separately in our AI character privacy guide.
Last updated: . This page describes how the current website handles browsing and saved drafts.
Browsing and searches
No Characters.best account is required. This edition has no account database, newsletter form, advertising pixels, analytics SDK or affiliate tracking. It does not send your text to an AI model.
Some filters and searches appear in the page URL. Anyone with a copied link can see those parameters. Avoid putting sensitive information in a directory search.
The website is hosted on DigitalOcean and delivered through Cloudflare. These services process network information such as your IP address, browser request headers and the requested URL to deliver and protect the site. This differs from saving a character draft: draft text stays in your browser. See DigitalOcean’s privacy policy and Cloudflare’s privacy policy for their data practices.
When you choose to save a draft
The character card builder and memory worksheet work in your browser. Saving is an explicit action. Saved drafts use browser localStorage on this exact site origin; they are not uploaded to a Characters.best account or synchronized to another device.
A saved draft belongs to this website in this browser. It will not appear automatically on another device, in another browser or on a different website.
Use the tool’s remove-saved-draft control, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings. A downloaded JSON, text or Markdown file stays on your device until you remove it. Copying text uses your clipboard. Shared-device users should clear saved drafts and downloaded files when finished.
Opening a platform or a source
External links lead to independent websites with their own account, age, payment and privacy requirements. A provider receives the request when you open its page. Characters.best does not create the account, send a chat message or purchase access for you.
Platform icons and the character avatars displayed here are served by Characters.best. Viewing these images does not require your browser to contact the original platform. Original public profile links and creator credits remain available so you can inspect the source.
Commercial links and future changes
No referral tracking is active in this edition. Any later affiliate or sponsored link must be labelled according to our editorial and commercial disclosure policy. Analytics, forms or changes to storage require an updated description before they are introduced.
